Plastic Waste Management By-Law
The Plastic Waste Management By-Law refers to the rules and regulations formulated for the effective collection, segregation, processing, and recycling of plastic waste within the jurisdiction of the Grama Panchayat. Its main objectives are to protect public health, reduce environmental pollution, and ensure the scientific management of plastic waste.
Under this By-Law, households, commercial establishments, institutions, and other entities are required to segregate plastic waste and hand it over to the Haritha Karma Sena. The use of single-use plastic items is to be minimized as far as possible, while the use of reusable alternatives is encouraged. The By-Law also provides for measures, including the imposition of fines, against those who illegally dump plastic waste in public places.
