Right to Information Act, 2005

The Right to Information Act, 2005 is an important legislation enacted to enable citizens of India to obtain information from government institutions. Coming into force in 2005, the primary objective of this Act is to ensure transparency and accountability in the functioning of the government. Under this Act, any Indian citizen can request information from government offices, and the concerned department is required to provide a response within the prescribed time limit. The Right to Information Act plays a significant role in reducing corruption and strengthening democracy.
