Mahatma Award

The Mahatma Award is an award given by the Government of Kerala to Local Self-Government Institutions that demonstrate excellence in the effective implementation and outstanding performance of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS).

The award primarily recognizes excellence in areas such as the planning and implementation of the employment guarantee programme, creation of employment opportunities, quality execution of projects, transparency, and public participation. The award is presented to Grama Panchayats and Block Panchayats at both the State and District levels.

For Kannamangalam Grama Panchayat, receiving the Mahatma Award is an important recognition of its effective implementation of the employment guarantee programme and its achievements in development activities.
